Ummagma will make your iPod more beautiful

This music reminds me very much of a band I love but recently lost to cancer. The band lost was School of Seven Bells. The band found is Ummagma and they may even have better rhythm.  Things are looking up for Ummagma.

*Attention* There are free downloads in this post.

That’s right music that is too good to be given away.  Art that should only be paid for but given to you free from a confident group called Ummagma.

Only the true artists that create beauty from where there was none prior with complete ease, can offer their songs for free, knowing that once you hear what they are up to, will be totally mesmerized and unable to stop yourself from going to their website, purchasing every future release, every t-shirt, and every concert ticket. Click your free downloads but then before you know it this beautiful music will have you down at the cash station pulling out the available balance and then returning your text books to buy more Ummagma. It’s clever marketing but the music is even more clever.

Breathtaking video to accompany breathy vocals and journey-taking music. The song is “Lama”

Please read the Ummagma back story.

Ummagma began in 2003 as an affair with love and sound in Moscow, where Alexx and Shauna were living. After meeting at an acoustic guitar concert, their relationship developed into a marriage and the musical partnership we know today as Ummagma. Until then, Shauna was mainly singing acapella and working with various Moscow musicians, while Alexx was a solo guitarist experimenting with home recording.

Alexx handles composition, all instruments, arrangement and vocals, as well as recording, mixing, mastering. and video production. Shauna McLarnon deals with vocals, composition, lyrics and band management. Alexx is from Kremenets (Western Ukraine) and Shauna is from Whitehorse, Yukon (Canada). For Alexx, making music began in childhood following the collapse of the USSR. Shauna began songwriting with solo compositions while studying and working in Russia’s Siberia, Moscow and northern Canada. They currently live in western Ukraine with their daughter Nika, working in their studio, where Alexx also records and produces other artists’ work.

If marriage is about making beautiful music together then Ummagma will surely be celebrating their golden (record) 50th anniversary soon and we will enjoy taking the journey with them.

About Spool Going Round

If you like my blog and have access to programming and would like to do a radio/internet show together, please contact me. My name is Mike. I am an on-air radio DJ. I fell in love with radio in Chicago and then took that passion to someplace where I could actually get on the air. My travels took me to Seattle, WA, Eugene and Portland, OR and Washington D.C., where I was able to have my own morning show. I've had crab cakes with Warren Zevon, sat backstage and interviewed Sting, had Melissa Etheridge sing to me from the front row and I loved every minute of it. That passion for music still burns strong in me and I love to talk music and be turned on to music. Sharing new music with people is what got me interested in radio in the first place. It is wonderful to be able to talk music with you. "Go ahead you're on the air..." Read more:
