Dave Grohl’s Sonic Highways Journey starts in Chicago

It has been well-documented that as a young rocker Dave Grohl’s life was changed after attending a punk rock show at Chicago’s Cubby Bear across from the historic Wrigley Field.  On the bill that night was America’s greatest punk rock band, Naked Raygun.

HBO series Sonic Highways features a city in each episode.  The sound that each city has provided to the wealth of music.  The bands, recording studios, and live clubs.  Each city has a sound and each city has a story.

To make this great rock and roll story come to life even more. Foo Fighters will perform live at The Cubby Bear this Friday, 10/17/14 after the screening of episode one of “Sonic Highways” the Chicago episode.

Tickets go on sale TOMORROW with a 2 ticket limit and you can’t scalp ’em or buy for buddies. You purchase, you go to the show, and you show ID. That’s punk rock.

Can we get Naked Raygun to open this show?

About Spool Going Round

If you like my blog and have access to programming and would like to do a radio/internet show together, please contact me. spoolgoinground@yahoo.com My name is Mike. I am an on-air radio DJ. I fell in love with radio in Chicago and then took that passion to someplace where I could actually get on the air. My travels took me to Seattle, WA, Eugene and Portland, OR and Washington D.C., where I was able to have my own morning show. That passion for music still burns strong in me and I love to talk music and be turned on to music. Sharing new music with people is what got me interested in radio in the first place. It is wonderful to be able to talk music with you. "Go ahead you're on the air..." Read more: http://www.chicagonow.com/blogs/spool-going-round/about-spool-going-round.html#ixzz1Bfx7V0ug
