A Beautiful Road Trip with Hiss Golden Messenger

Hiss Golden Messenger reminds of many of the great artists I started out playing on AAA radio.  It is reminiscent of Steve Earle, John Hiatt, Chris Whitley, even Mike Younger.   Incredible radio stations like KEXP in Seattle keep these similar artists coming your way.  Sounds comfortable around the ear lobes.  The song “Mahogany Dread” is a great road trip video with family, kids, nature, and lines like “happy days are still ahead” and “yeah the dead are here, they never go away,” all add to the feel of this wonderful tune.

Hiss Golden Messenger released their fifth studio album Lateness of Dancers on September 9th on Merge Records to resounding critical praise. Their West Coast begins tonight in Seattle, will wind its way down the Pacific Coast and land on November 13th in Los Angeles. The following day the band’s episode of Mountain Stage will appear on NPR stations across the country!

Hiss Golden Messenger will make their network television debut on The Late Show with David Letterman on November 18th. Following their appearance they will launch an extensive UK and European Tour that will begin in December and wrap at the end of February 2015. All tour dates will be full band. On the European and UK dates, Hiss Golden Messenger will be opening for Ben Howard.  Full tour dates below.

About Spool Going Round

If you like my blog and have access to programming and would like to do a radio/internet show together, please contact me. spoolgoinground@yahoo.com My name is Mike. I am an on-air radio DJ. I fell in love with radio in Chicago and then took that passion to someplace where I could actually get on the air. My travels took me to Seattle, WA, Eugene and Portland, OR and Washington D.C., where I was able to have my own morning show. I've had crab cakes with Warren Zevon, sat backstage and interviewed Sting, had Melissa Etheridge sing to me from the front row and I loved every minute of it. That passion for music still burns strong in me and I love to talk music and be turned on to music. Sharing new music with people is what got me interested in radio in the first place. It is wonderful to be able to talk music with you. "Go ahead you're on the air..." Read more: http://www.chicagonow.com/blogs/spool-going-round/about-spool-going-round.html#ixzz1Bfx7V0ug
