CARL BARÂT hits USA first ahead of Libertines Reunion

The Libertines was one of the most exciting scenes and musical journeys to happen back in the late 90’s and quite honestly since. I have not felt that energy and excitement for a new band outside of Arctic Monkeys who do come close. The joy of hearing new Libertines music and the desire to find anything with Carl and Pete on it, was mind-blowing.

I was lucky enough to see The Libertines live in Portland, Oregon but it was without Pete. Of course, by this time Pete was so messed up on drugs that it was not a loss. Carl sang all the songs and the band was banging. All the excitement was still there. And even though the NME has a new band to hype almost monthly none had the songs like The Libertines.

The Libertines in 2014

Well the good news is Pete has seen the light and The Libertines will set sail again in 2015 but not before Carl delivers an album and tour from the band he has been leading, the Jackals. New album in February and US tour in March. In all honesty Pete may never be able to secure a visa to tour the US so this could the closest us yanks get to seeing the good ship Albion.

Carl Barat and the Jackals new album “Let it Reign” out in February 2015.  This is the single Glory Days.

About Spool Going Round

If you like my blog and have access to programming and would like to do a radio/internet show together, please contact me. My name is Mike. I am an on-air radio DJ. I fell in love with radio in Chicago and then took that passion to someplace where I could actually get on the air. My travels took me to Seattle, WA, Eugene and Portland, OR and Washington D.C., where I was able to have my own morning show. I've had crab cakes with Warren Zevon, sat backstage and interviewed Sting, had Melissa Etheridge sing to me from the front row and I loved every minute of it. That passion for music still burns strong in me and I love to talk music and be turned on to music. Sharing new music with people is what got me interested in radio in the first place. It is wonderful to be able to talk music with you. "Go ahead you're on the air..." Read more:
