From the great website U2start.com

In a month’s time it will be 40 years ago that Bono, Edge, Larry and Adam got together with a few others in Larry’s kitchen to form a band. No band in history has been around longer in the same formation without any big hiatus, an incredible statistic. We celebrate this milestone with some amazing audio broadcasts, featured content, quizzes and more. We hope you will be a part of it, enjoy!

5 legendary U2 recordings, broadcasted weekly
In the coming month, starting this Saturday, we will broadcast 5 legendary U2 recordings via U2start.com. Every Saturday we will stream the audio recording of another show, one even more legendary than the other. We will listen to these together with other fans in our forums. All shows start at 19pm GMT/3pm EDT/5am Sydney time:

This Saturday: 1993-08-28 – Dublin (“An instant classic”)
3 September: 1987-04-29 – Chicago (“Rock’s Hottest Tickets”)
10 September: 2001-10-25 – New York (“U2 helped us heal, their finest hour”)
17 September: 1989-12-30 – Dublin (“Dreaming it all up again”)
24 September: 1997-09-23 – Sarajevo (“Their most important show in the 90s”)

“Spring Hill Mining Disaster” Bono talks about how the Irish have been coming to Chicago for many years to find work.  I knew then Chicago would have a special relationship with this working band for a long time.

Bono introduces the song written in solidarity with Poland. Then cracks into “New Years Day” I’m Polish!!

About Spool Going Round

If you like my blog and have access to programming and would like to do a radio/internet show together, please contact me. spoolgoinground@yahoo.com My name is Mike. I am an on-air radio DJ. I fell in love with radio in Chicago and then took that passion to someplace where I could actually get on the air. My travels took me to Seattle, WA, Eugene and Portland, OR and Washington D.C., where I was able to have my own morning show. I've had crab cakes with Warren Zevon, sat backstage and interviewed Sting, had Melissa Etheridge sing to me from the front row and I loved every minute of it. That passion for music still burns strong in me and I love to talk music and be turned on to music. Sharing new music with people is what got me interested in radio in the first place. It is wonderful to be able to talk music with you. "Go ahead you're on the air..." Read more: http://www.chicagonow.com/blogs/spool-going-round/about-spool-going-round.html#ixzz1Bfx7V0ug
